After Mauricio Rua’s original opponent Thiago Silva pulled out due to injury, Rua has finally been matched up against Brandon Vera to headline the UFC on FOX 4 card. UFC on FOX 4 is expected to take place on August 4, 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
“The new main event on August 4 will be a five-round light heavyweight battle between two of the best Muay Thai strikers in the game, Brandon Vera and former champion Shogun Rua. Rua is riding the momentum of the fight of the century against Dan Henderson, while Vera is back in the win column and looking to make a statement after being sidelined earlier this year due to injury himself.”
“Rua is being plucked from the UFC 149 card in Calgary, where he was set to face Thiago Silva until Silva suffered an injury. Vera, meanwhile, was training for a bout with James Te Huna at the July FUEL TV event. A new opponent for Te Huna is expected to be named shortly.”

Bellator’s middleweight champion Hector Lombard was to have faced Brian Stann in the main event of UFC on FOX 4, but Stann was forced to withdraw due to injury. Michael Bisping was going to face Tim Boetsch, but “The Count” has also pulled out due to an injury. Lombard will now face Boetch at UFC 149.
UFC 149 is expected to take place on July 21, 2012 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

“Lombard had been slated to fight Brian Stann in the main event of UFC on FOX 4 in August, but was left opponentless earlier today after Stann was forced to withdraw due to injury. That event got a new headliner in the form of Shogun Rua, who’d been left orphaned on the UFC 149 fight card after planned opponent Thiago Silva was hurt.”
UFC on FOX 4 headliner Brian Stann is out of his scheduled five-round middleweight headliner bout against former Bellator FC champion, Hector Lombard. Sources are confirming that a shoulder injury is leaving the former WEC lightweight champion out of the FOX card. UFC on FOX 4 takes place Aug. 4 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It is still unclear if Lombard, the reigning Bellator middleweight champion and a recent UFC import, will remain on the card.
Stann recently picked up his fourth win in five fights with a first-round knockout via ground and pound of Alessio Sakara at UFC on FUEL TV 2.
