CHRIS HORODECKI CUT FROM ZUFFA ROSTER
Chris Horodecki is the latest fighter to be released from Zuffa’s lightweight roster. The 23-year-old London, Ontario, Canada, native was submitted by Donald Cerrone at WEC 53.
The baby-faced striker went 2-2 in his stint with the WEC with wins over Danny Downes and Ed Ratcliff and losses to Cerrone and Anthony Njokuani.
Horodecki first turned heads at the tender age of 19 in the IFL. His technical striking won him his first seven outings in the team-based promotion and brought his professional record to 12-0. The streak was halted abruptly in his eighth appearance when veteran Ryan Schultz pounded him out in December 2007.
“One door closes and another one opens, We’ll get a couple fights and do what we do.” said an optimistic Horodecki

WEC 53: ANTHONY PETTIS TALKS BEN HENDERSON BOUT “I FEEL I CAN WIN THIS FIGHT ANYWHERE”
WEC lightweight number one contender, Anthony Pettis gives his thoughts ahead of his career defining fight with Benson Henderson at WEC 53 tonight in Glendale, Arizona.
“I’m here to prove everybody wrong and show that I’m ready, and I’m ready to go now. I’ve only been in the WEC for a year-and-a-half. To get a title shot already, I’m just honored to be in this position. I’m ready to take advantage of it.”
“I know Henderson is a great wrestler, so this camp I worked on my wrestling a lot. I kind of built off my Shane Roller camp. I got to work on my wrestling two camps in a row. I feel I can win this fight anywhere. I can win this fight standing. I can win on the ground. I’ve definitely been working on my takedown defense. I’m prepared for a championship fight.”
“This is a real special fight. The winner of this fight is going to be in the best position they can possibly be in coming out of the WEC. Every fighter is fighting to be in the position we’re in right now. I’m just excited to be in there. I’m going to have a WEC belt around me and a chance to win a UFC belt.”
